NEW YORK SOCIETY’S COMPETITION. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) New York, June 15. Two special prizes and seven honourable mentions went to Australia and New Zealand to-day in the international competition held by the New Historical Society of New York. The subject of the paper was: “How can youth develop racial harmony?” Special prizes of 50 dollars each were won by Miss Mary Sullivan, Drummoyne, New South Wales; Mr lan Mac Kay, “Friendly Road” radio station,. Auckland; Miss Grace Pinkard, Brookvale, Sydney; the Rev. William McKay, Grange, South Australia; Mr Kenneth Melvin, Palmerston North, New Zealand; Miss Freda McKenzie, Out ram, Otago; Miss Barbara Kerr, Otaika Valley, North Auckland; and Miss Blanche Newman, North Croydon, Adelaide.
