BROADCASTING
JAMMING OF AUCKLAND STATION. REPORT TO CABINET. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, December 20. Nothing will be said or done about alleged interference with the Auckland broadcasting station IZB during the general election campaign, until Cabinet meet on January 8, and it is probable that even then, if more important matters command the attention of the Government, a controversial subject will be relegated to second place. It is understood that the Post-master-General, the Hon. F. Jones, has received a report on the alleged “jamming” of the Auckland broadcasting station in the course of an address by the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour, but there is no likelihood of the contents of the report being made public until the Labour Cabinet has given its consideration. The Minister said to-day that owing to the fact that he and his colleagues had been engaged so busilj’ on important matters relating to their departments, he had not had an opportunity of discussing the report with them, but the report of the inquiry and the general question of the broadcasting policy would engage the attention of Cabinet as early as possible in the new year.
