LAWN TENNIS. The Orepuki Tennis Club’s team travelled to Pahia on Wednesday afternoon to play the sub-association fixture. The home team proved much too strong for the visitors winning by 11 sets, 81 games to 5 sets, 58 games. The following are the results, Pahia players mentioned first: Women’s Singles: Mrs Milne v. E. Bowling. On Wednesday evening members of the Central (Winton) Club visited Orepuki to fulfil the club fixture. After a most enjoyable game Central were the winners by 64 points to 45. After the game supper was handed round by the lady members. Athletic Society. On Tuesday night a public meeting was held in the Oddfellows Hall to endeavour to revive the Orepuki Athletic Society. The meeting was well attended. The project was given a very full discussion and it was eventually decided that all present form a committee for the purpose of reviving the society. It was also decided that there be no meeting this athletic year, but that the committee start at once to raise funds to enable a meeting to be held early in 1937.
