WOMEN’S DIVISION
WEST PLAINS BRANCH SUCCESSFUL DANCE One of the most successful dances of the season was held recently the occasion being the third birthday of the West Plains Branch. Visitors were present from all parts of the town and country. Dancing was indulged in by the majority of those present, while there was progressive euchre for nondancers, the winners being, ladies, Mrs Waters 1, Mrs Brewster 2; men, Mr Cameron 1, Mr J. Ford 2. At a suitable interval, the beautiful cake, which was made and decorated by the president, (Mrs Armstrong) was cut by the eldest member (Mrs Douglas), prior to which the youngest member (Miss Narby) had lit the three candles while another junior member Miss Henderson blew them out. The vice-presidents of the branch Mesdames Watson, Cook, and MacDonald, also the visiting presidents each cut a slice and extended congratulations. Mr A. Waters (Waikiwi) returned thanks on behalf of the large crowd of visitors present for the most enjoyable evening and extended birthday greetings and wished the branch every success. The Imperial Orchestra in no small measure contributed in the successful evening.
