CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT.
To the Editor.
Sir,—My letter of October 22 was quite clear and should not place Mr Marchant “at a loss to know” my attitude. I pointed out certain definitely untrue statements based upon manipulating figures. What I said was correct and I can see no good reason to take up a debate on the causes of unemployment. To do so would not disprove my assertion in any way. To a plain elector like myself the letter appearing in your issue just above Mr Marchant’s seems commonsense as to the effect of the cuts.
Every ordinary man believes that our troubles, including unemployment, came from the big fall in our National Income owing to the slump in overseas market prices.—I am, etc., PETER SIMPLE.
