In the State of New Jersey, where national issues were also raised, the Republicans led in most of the contests for the General Assembly and the State Senate. Philadelphia’s vindictive mayoralty campaign was decided in favour of Mr Davis Wilson (Republican) over Mr John Kelly (Democrat). San Francisco re-elected its Mayor, Mr Angelo Rossi.
