ELECTIONS IN AMERICA REPUBLICAN TREND EVIDENT DEMOCRATS OUSTED IN NEW YORK (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 0.50 p.m.) New York, Nov. 6. Republicans regained control of New York State Assembly to-day, transforming the previous Democratic majority of four into a Republican margin of fourteen. Republican leaders interpreted the victory as an indication that support for the new deal was vanishing. , , The Republican trend was also evident in numerous mayoralty elections in the States. In the State of New Jersey, where national issues were also raised, the Republicans led in most of the contests for the General Assembly and the State Senate. Philadelphia’s vindictive mayoralty campaign was decided in favour of Mr Davis Wilson (Republican) over Mr John Kelly (Democrat). San Francisco re-elected its Mayor, Mr Angelo Rossi. Virginia and Mississippi swept in Democratic nominees as expected.
