ANNUAL FAIR
ST. AIDAN’S PARISH.
Good business was done at the annual fair and sale of work held by the St. Aidan’s Church in the parish hall, South Invercargill, yesterday afternoon
and evening. The well-laden stalls were attractively decorated in red and white, while numerous games invariably associated with a bazaar helped to give everyone a jolly time. The church funds will benefit appreciably as a result of the effort. The faix- was opened yesterday afternoon by his Worship the Mayor (Mr John Miller), who was introduced by Mr W. Bridges, chairman of the church committee. The Mayor referred to the good work which had been carried out by Mrs Bridges (president of St. Aidan’s Ladies’ Guild), her secretary, Mrs V. Thompson, and all those who had assisted. In the evening an entertainment was provided by the St. Aidan’s Boys’ Club, the members of the party being Messrs J. Walsh, C. Orme, R. Detbidge, M. Toole and A. Caird. Their humorous sketches were much enjoyed by the audience. The stall-holders were as follows: Lingerie stall, Mesdames V. Thompson, I. Jack and D. Kerr; works stall, Mesdames W. Bridges and Murray; sweets stall, Misses K. Walsh, M. Bragg, L. Pay, L. Lock, F. Walsh, N. Derbidge, J. Mannix, H. Melvin, A. Pay and D. Jones (members of the St. Aidan’s Girls’ Club); apron stall, Mesdames S. Dalton, E. England and F. Walsh; cakes and produce stall, Mesdames R. W. Jones and E. Walsh; flower stall, Mrs Hodgkinson and Miss J. Hefford; tea rooms, Mrs Voice, Mrs G. Gunn and Miss D. Cochrane.
