WAIANIWA NOTES
BIBLE CLASS SOCIAL. (From Our Correspondent.) Mr and Mrs J. Price’s home “Lincoln” was the scene of a very happy gathering last Thursday evening when the local Bible Class held their wind up social. At a suitable interval Mr E. Grieve on behalf of the class thanked Mrs and Miss Price for their hospitality. Miss Whitelaw endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks. Mr J. Parr thanked the Rev. Rodgers for the keen interest he had taken in the class. Hostesses for supper were Mrs and Miss Price. Miss Price “Scotts Gap” is the guest of her cousin Miss N. Price “Lincoln.” On Tuesday evening last a successful concert was staged in the local hall in aid of the Plunket Society. Mr J. B. Steans acted as chairman. The following items were received with applause. Half-hour entertainment, local talent; banjo-mandoline solo, Mr S. Jordon; monologue, Miss A. Jenkinson; duet, Mesdames Toole and McNaughton; solo, Master F. Hardy; Irish jig, Miss Smith’s pupils; solo, Miss Jenkinson; solo, Mr V. Wilson; Highland Fling, Ella Fotheringham and John Keith; tap dance, Miss Jenkinson; solo, Mrs Toole; tap dance, Miss M. Smith. At a suitable interval Mrs T. H. Anderson (president of the Plunket Society) moved a hearty vote cf thanks to the performers and she also thanked Mr and Mrs N. McNaughton for making the concert such a success. Accompanists for the evening were Miss Wilson, Mrs Toole and Mr C. Dillon. After supper was served the z ha 11 was cleared for dancing to music supplied by Mrs Toole (piano), Mr “Digger” McDonald (accordion). Extras being played by Mr C. Dillon.
