BANK FRAUDS

HARD LABOUR SENTENCE.

(Per United Press Association.) Auckland, November 5. At the Supreme Court Laul Edward Din for Post Office savings bank frauds was sentenced to three years’ hard labour. Counsel, Mr R. Moody, referred to similar cases where probation had been granted. The Judge said there must have been exceptional circumstances for probation in the cases quoted. The offences in this case were planned cunningly and carried out on bold lines. It was apparent there was a desire to live a life of luxury and comfort at the expense of other people.
