Edmund Gwenn
CONTRACT IN HOLLYWOOD. Edmund Gwenn confirms the news of his contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He will not, however, be entirely lost to British films. “I am under contract both to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in America and to Associated Talking Pictures in England,” he says. “My Associated Talking Pictures contract calls for two pictures a year for three consecutive years. The Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer contract requires me to spend forty working weeks in America, with permission to visit England to fulfil my obligations there, provided I return afterward to complete the balance of my forty weeks. My first Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture, as you will have heard, is to be ‘The Bishop Misbehaves,’ in which I am to play the part of the bishop.” Mr Gwenn thus steps into a leading role for his Hollywood debut. Hollywood will probably keep him i ery busy when the studios there have had firsthand experience of the quality of his acting.
