AUSTRALIAN DEPARTMENTAL HEADS.

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.20 p.m.) Melbourne, Nov. 2. Important changes in the departmental heads of the Commonwealth Public Service were announced by Mr J. A. Lyons to-day. Mr S. G. McFarlane, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury has been appointed Official Secretary in London in succession to Sir John McLaren, who is retiring shortly. Mr J. H. Starling, Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Department, has bene appointed First Assistant Public Service Commissioner. Mr Frank Strahan, Assistant Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Department succeeds Mr Starling. Mr H. C. Brown, Secretary of the Department of the Interior succeeds the AuditorGeneral, Mr C. J. Cerrutty, who is retiring.
