OPIUM SMOKING
CHINESE FINED. RAID BY DETECTIVES.

Dunedin, November 2.
As the result of a visit by detectives to premises in Stafford street, Dunedin, last evening, a Chinese, aged 38, appeared before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., in the Police Court to-day and was fined £l2 10/- for smoking prepared opium. When surprised by the detectives, Poy was lying on a bunk in a shed at the rear of the premises. A warm pipe and other smoking paraphernalia were found.
