OTAUTAU NOTES
EUCHRE. (From Our Correspondent.) During the winter euchre evenings have been held every week to raise funds for the Otautau dental clinic, and approximately £l2 has been raised from this source. The final for the session was held on Wednesday, when there was an attendance of 32 players. Prizes were won as follows: Mrs Gordon 1 (12 games), Mr Spencer 2 (11 games) and Mr L. Pulley 3 (10 games). The consolation prize went to Mrs J. Paterson. After supper Mr G. Sinclair, chairman of the School Committee, returned thanks for the manner in which the project had been supported and to the public for their co-operation in assisting to raise funds for the clinic District Nursing Service, A meeting of the Otautau and district Nursing Committee was held in the rest room at Otautau, when Mr W. J, Wesney (president) presided. A report was submitted on the recent bring and buy fair and showed that the function had resulted in the funds being considerably augmented. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’Union raised £27 13/3, and the Nursing Committee stall £l7 17/9, a total of £45 11/-. The expenses totalled £3 2/-. leaving a net gain of £2B 12/4, after £l3 6/8 had been paid over to the funds of the Women’s Division (half proceeds of stall). A letter from the Otautau Town Board was read, in which it was intimated that bequests totalling £2OO from the estates of the late Mr and Mrs Holt had been left with the Town Board for the use of the nursing service. The secretary was directed to write and acknowledge with thanks the board’s letter, and also to write to Mr C. D. Mills, trustee of the estate, conveying the committee’s great appreciation of the gifts.
