PETROL SUPPLIED
SUNDAY TRADING. CONVICTIONS IN UNUSUAL PROSECUTION. (Per United Press Association.) New Plymouth, August 19. The supply of petrol from bulk store to a re-selling station on Sundays was held by Mr W. H. Woodward, S.M., in a reserved decision, to be illegal. B. E. Kivell, manager of a bulk store at Stratford, R. A. Robertson, driver of a tank waggon, and E. Walker, service station proprietor, were convicted of Sunday trading and each was fined £l. The defence raised the contention that replenishment of supply was essential but the Magistrate held that there was no necessity from the viewpoint of the public but merely business advantage to the three men concerned.
