SOUTHLAND ASSOCIATION. EXECUTIVE MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the management committee of the Southland Women’s Hockey Association was held last night when Mr J. H. Holland presided over Misses M. G. Watson. R. M. Blackie. and M. Mclntyre and Messrs L. Holmes. P. Bell, A. Kidd, J. M. Davies, L. J. Sparks and H. K. Emanuel. Technical College were granted permission to play Dunedin Technical at Invercargill next Wednesday and Christchurch Technical on the following Monday. It was resolved to defray the travelling expenses of all Southern players in the representative team to the practices commencing at Invercargill next Monday. The secretary of the New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association advised that Bush had consented to Southland ■jeing granted the bye in Section A and Southland would accordingly take the lull draw originally given to Bush. On the motion of Miss Watson, the secretary was instructed to convey thanks to the Bush Association for its sporting action. The draw for next Saturday is as follows: Union v. Technical (1.45 p.m.). Collegiate were granted permission to play any Southern District team if a match can be arranged. Considerable discussion took place regarding the position of the touring funds and the treasurer (Mr Davies) submitted a report showing the financial state of the association's fund. A donation of £1 15/- from the Technical College Club was received with thanks, appreciation being expressed by members of the executive at the sporting attitude of its players, especially seeing that the club had no representative in the touring team. A donation of £2 2/- towards the touring fund was acknowledged with thanks from the Southern Sub-Associ-ation.

It was reported that there was every prospect of further donations being in hand by the nevt meeting and that the money would be in sight to finance the trip. The secretary was instructed to book the necessary train, boat and bus passages. The secretary was instructed to inform all clubs that their levies in respect of each representative player must be forwarded to the association not later than next Tuesday. It was decided to hold a special meeting next Tuesday to finalize arrangements in connection with the team’s trip to Gisborne.
