FACTORY DESTROYED
OUTBREAK OF FIRE.
COMPANY’S HEAVY LOSS.

Taumarunui, August 12
At five o’clock this morning fire completely destroyed the King’s Box Company’s butter box factory near the railway yards in Taumarunui. The fire started through a blow out in the furnace, the flames spreading throughout the building in a few minutes. The nightwatchman was unable to cope with the outbreak and called in the brigade. The borough’s new water system gave a powerful pressure, but it was nearly an hour before the outbreak was under control. The building, stock and plant were valued at from £lO,OOO to £12,000. The insurance with the New Zealand Office was only £2OOO. Two motor lorries were also destroyed. The fire throws 50 men and boys out of employment.
