MATCHES AT WINTON.

The annual basketball fixture between the Riverton and Winton High Schools took place at Winton on Friday. At half-time Riverton led by 3 to 1. After the interval Winton combined better and played a much . improved game, particularly the defence third. The final score was 6—3 in Winton’s favour. Mr W. Anderson controlled the game. A football match between Lochiel and a Winton B school team was also played at Winton on Friday afternoon. At half-time the score was 3 all. In the second spell Winton took full advantage of the wind and won by the narrow margin of 9 to 6. For Locl-iel tries were scored by Duthie and Kean, while Lindsay, Earl and Anderson scored for Winton. Darnill (Winton' and Kean (Lochiel) played outstanding games. Mr J. Lumsden controlled the game.
