OXFORD GROUP

A “HOUSE PARTY” INNOVATION FOR NEW ZEALAND METHOD TO BE TRIED (Per United Press Association.) Wellinrton, August 12. “House Party Religion,” a phrase coined to describe one method adopted by the Oxford Group Movement for “life changing,” in accordance with Christian principles, is coming to Wellington. A national “House Party,” is to take place at the Midland Hotel, beginning on August 28 and continuing until September 2. Although small parties have already been held elsewhere in the Dominion this will be the first thing of its kind on a large scale here.

The power behind the organization of the Oxford Group Movement in New Zealand is a Cambridge student, the Hon. Miles Phillimore, a son of Lord Phillimore, of Henley-On-Thames. This young man has dedicated his life to the work and New Zealand is his chosen sphere. “The house party will be attended, it is expected, by about 200 people” he said. "It is not a public party, each quest having been privately invited to be present. Many professions will be represented and people will be coming from all parts of the Dominion. The party atmosphere will be provided by the association together of. the guests at the hotel. We have booked a conference hall for the more formal aspect of the party.” ________________
