GIRL'S OUTBURST
SCENE IN CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES,
There was a lively scene in the Chamber of Deputies, Paris, when a young woman in the public gallery, Mlle. Mireille Bost, rose and addressed the President, M. Fernand Bouisson, upon the national danger of a decreasing population. To the alarm of the deputies, she climbed over the balustrade, and, after dangling for a while in a dangerous position, let herself down by a rope to the floor of the chamber. The girl seated herself and continued to shout about the necessity for more French children. There was much laughter when, in reply to a question, she admitted that she was single. She had to be forced out of the chamber and was taken to a police-station. There she said she had read an article in a magazine on the dangers of depopulation. She was not detained, as it is not clear that any legal offence was committed.
