CATTLE SUBSIDY
EXTENSION IN BRITAIN.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, July 19.
In the House of Commons, Mr Walter Elliot, defending the proposed extension of the cattle subsidy, declared that the fall in food prices since 1925 was equivalent to £230,000,000 a year, benefiting the working class almost exclusively. He urged that a proportion of it should be used to maintain farm wages and produce home foodstuffs. The Bill was read a second time by 148 votes to 34.
