RADIO CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the So '?*h~ land Radio Club was held on the 17tn instant when the following were present: Mr A. W. Jones, president, in the chair, Messrs J. Pickard, G. L. Teychenne, T. H. Watson, F. Simpson, A. E. Jordan, G. Skipworth, Riddell and J. S. Haywood, secretary. The chairman reported that Mr McIntyre had been appointed a collector in conjunction with Mr Cheyne, and that they had commenced enrolling members for the new year. Mr Pickard reported that he had completed arrangements for a representative of the Tourist Department to give a series of nine talks on Maori Legends and matters of historical interest. Arrangements had also been made for “referee” talks each Saturday evening ’ during the football season. The secretary reported that an endeavour had been made to obtain full stock reports in connection with the Wallacetown stock sales. It was decided to go on.the air dur’ing July, August and September at 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The chairman reported that Mr Ralph Hanan had given two very acceptable travel talks and would probably be giving a further series. It was arranged to broadcast the Military' Ball to be held on July 4, and Mr Skipworth was appointed to make the final arrangements. Messrs Simpson and Jordan were appointed a committee to bring down a report in connection with some scheme to cope with interference. The following committees were set up:—Finance committee, president, Messrs Pickard, Watson and Mabson; emergency committee, Messrs Skipworth, Simpson and Teychenne; children’s committee, Messrs Skipworth (convenor), Teychenne and Aunt Hallie; technical committee, Messrs Simpson (convenor), Jordan, McEwan and Scott; programme committee, Messrs Teychenne (convenor), Pickard and Riddell. Routine correspondence from the board and Mr Passmore was received and dealt with.
