DEFENCE OF LONDON
ANTI-AIRCRAFT UNITS. CONVERSION OF TERRITORIALS. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, June 15. At the request of the Army Council eight London battalions of the Territorial Army agreed to their conversion into anti-aircraft defence units. An indication that this step was under consideration was given in the House o' Commons last March by Mr Douglas Hacking, who said that certain Territorial field units had been asked to become anti-aircraft brigades and battalions of engineers, etc. Units would be trained for the defence of the London area.
