SUSTENANCE MEN
APPEAL FOR INCREASE IN GRANT. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, June 14. An appeal for an increase of at least 5/- a week in the grant made to men on sustenance, and a protest against the new regulation which requires men to report in addition to the compulsory call at a post office to receive their allowance, are contained in a letter sent by the Auckland Social Workers’ Association to the Minister of Employment. The association, representing 30 organizations, states that its resources are almost completely exhausted in its endeavours to help the sustenance men.
