NAVAL STRENGTH

GERMAN PERCENTAGE A NEW PROBLEM FOR BRITAIN PROBABLE FLEET (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, June 13. Mr Hector C. Bywater, in the Daily Telegraph, points out. that if an agreement is concluded under which Germany will have 35 per. cent, of tha British naval strength, in categories, she could have: Five 22,000-ton battle cruisers with t 11 or 12-inch guns . Six 8160-ton heavy cruisers with flinch guns Thirty-six 100-ton destroyers Nineteen 8000-ton submarines Two 22,000-ton air craft carriers. The only British ships capable of dealing with battle-cruisers of the type foreshadowed are the Hood, the Renown, and the Repulse. The two lastnamed would almost certainly be outpaced. Britain is thus confronted with new naval problems of the first magnitude.
