TUATAPERE NOTES
BASKETBALL. (From Our Correspondent.) On Tuesday last the Tuatapere Basketball Club held a most successful evening tournament in Lawson’s Hall. The entries were very good, although some of the teams were unable to attend owing to recent heavy falls of snow. *ln the senior girls section Te Tua were successful and Ohai in the junior. Both teams combined well and deserved their wins. In the men’s section Waiau Flappers secured a popular win, having been finalists in three previous tournaments. The referees were Messrs S. Miles, S. Baker, I. Buchanan, J. Forde, M. Kane. The results were as follows:—
Junior Girls.—First round: Ohai 5 v. Orepuki 1; Papatotara 1 v. Tuatapere II 0; Otahu 4 v. Te Tua 1. Semi-finals: Tuatapere 1.2 v. Otahu 0; Ohai 5 v. Papatotara 1. Final: Ohai 5 v. Tuatapere 11. Senior Girls.—First round: Papatotara 2 v. Orepuki 1; Te Tua 3 v. Pahia 1; Pukemaori 4 v. Tuatapere 3. Semifinal: Te Tua 4 v. Papatotara 2; Western Star 4 v. Pukemaori 3. Final: Te Tua 2 v. Western Star 1. Men’s, first round: Hoodlums 1 v. Pukemaori 0; Dinky Doos 2 v. Morals 1; Papatotara 7 v. Riffs 0; Waiau Flappers sv. Tough Guys 0. Semi-finals: Dinky Doos 3 v. Hoodlums 0; Flappers 3 v. Papatotara 1. Final: Flappers 3 v. Dinky Doos 1. After the basketball a dance was held, music being supplied by Messrs S. Murdoch and R. Broomhall.
