BANDS’ ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING. CONTEST FOR OAMARU, At the annual meeting of the Southland and Otago B and C Grade Brass and Pipe Bands’ Association the following were present: Messrs J. S. Brass (president, in the chair), A. F, Familton (vice-president), A. R. C. Smart (Southland Battalion Band), E. Smith (Dunedin Artillery), E. Smith (Gore Municipal), E. Smith (Mataura Brass Band), J. Millar (Bluff Marine Band), H. P. Taylor (Gore Pipe Band), and T. Gilchrist (Otago Central Pipe Bands), and other supporters. Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr A. F. Familton; vicepresident, Mr E. Smith; committee, Messrs W. Nelson, L? A. Blackmore, J. Millar, R. P. Taylor, T. Gilchrist and J. S. Brass; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. A. Blackmore.

It was decided to grant the 1935 contest to Oamaru.

It was agreed that in the selection the test piece should be arranged for and that it should be “own choice” in the quickstep. It was decided to recommend to the Oamaru Contest Committee that the test music for B Grade bands be left in the hands of the New Zealand Association and for C Grade that it be “own selection.” '
