KENNINGTON NOTES
TEA PARTY.
(From Our Correspondent.)
On Saturday afternoon. Mrs Thomson, Sunday School superintendent, along with her teachers, entertained the junior scholars in the Sunday School. Games were played, songs sung and afternoon tea enjoyed. The senior scholars will be similarly entertained at the Manse on Friday evening. The local fellmongery still continues to work full handed. The recent fire at the Makarewa works destroying their drying machines has necessitated most of their wool being sent to the works here for drying, which has helped considerably to keep them going so constantly. The cheese factory will only run one more day, that being Monday, and will then close for the season which will be about a month earlier than the previous season. The decrease on last season’s cheese will be .70 tons to the end of May. An offer for the remainder of the season cheese at 5d has been made and is being considered by the directors. If accepted the bonus for the season will be paid out about the usual time, but if the cheese is to be consigned the yearly bonus will not be available till the beginning of October.
