TAPANUI NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.)
A very successful concert and dance was held in ’Koi Hall on Friday evening by the ’Koi Basketball Girls’ Club. Visitors came from all the neighbouring districts and’ the hall was crowded. The president of the Basketball Club, Mr M. Stark, occupied the chair, and explained that the concert this evening was held to help the funds of the Basketball Club. He then introduced the performers, local performers giving the first part of the programme,. as follows: Opening song, Basketball girls in costume; recitation, Alex Whyte; ballet dance, Misses M. Spittle, J. Lindsay, B. White, E. Reid; pianoforte solo, Miss J. Craword; duet, Misses S. Simmers, E. Reid; humorous recitation, Miss M. Smith; bell solo Mr Rabbidge. A party from Gore rendered the second part of the programme: Song, Gore Company; song, Mr A. Ferguson; guitar solo, Mr D. Graham; dance, Miss Joan McKenzie; song, Mrs Davis; Scotch song (in costume), Mr G. Garden; song, company; song, Mr J. Simpson; accordion solo, Mrs Davis; tap dance, Miss G. Ferguson; humorous song, Mrs Davis; duet, Mr and Mrs Ferguson; song and dance in costume, Miss Joan McKenzie; song (with guitar accompaniment), company.
