PIPE BAND
OLD TIME CONCERT. POPULAR SELECTIONS. “A breath of the good old days,” as the promoters themselves described it, was introduced in Smith’s Hall last evening when the Old Timers’ Concert Party presented an enjoyable programme in aid of the Caledonian Pipe Band of Southland s Scottish Fair. There was a very fair attendance. Mr R. D. Donaldson extended thanks to the concert party. The programme was as follows: Selection, Pipe Band (under Pipe-Major G. Hoffman); song, “Annie Laurie, Mrs J. Baillie; song (comic), Dance With Me” Mr H. Anthony; song, Twickenham Ferry,” Miss Simon; violin selections, “Gems of Scotland.” Mr A. M. Dawson; song, “The Shade of the Old Apple Tree,” Mrs Longley; song (humorous), “The Wee Thing That Jaggit Them a’”, Mr E. W. Wright; duet, “In the Spring Time,” Mrs Macdonald and Mrs Clode; song, Barney Take Me Home Again,” Mr W. Baldwin; whistling solo, “Grannies Hieland Hame,” Mr O. Paton; song, Danny Bov” Mrs Macdonald; humorous item, “Who’ll Shut the Door,” Mrs Paton, Mr E W. Wright and Mr H. Anthony; song, “The Song That Reached my Heart,” Mrs Clode; song, “Comm Thro the Rye,” Mrs J. Baillie; song (hwnorous), “The Bold Macintyre, Mr E. W. Wright and Mr H. Anthony. The stage manager was Mr B. W. Wright, while Miss M. Harrington acted as accompaniste. ________
