HOUSE SHORTAGE
ALARM IN WELLINGTON.
(Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 12.
A shortage of houses in Wellington led to the central committee of allied building organizations meeting yesterday to consider ways and means of encouraging citizens to take greater advantage of the building subsidy. One member remarked that he advertised a house to let and received approximately 200 replies within 24 hours. The general conclusion reached was that the public did not appreciate the advantage of subsidies to property owners and. prospective home builders as much as the board’s help warranted, or the simple processes by which subsidies could be obtained. It was decided that a greater degree of publicity would be an advantage to the trade and employment generally, and a small committee was appointed to go into the details and bring down various schemes to give publicity. to the subsidy. z *
