CLIFDEN NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.)
The Clifden Hall was filled to its utmost capacity when the Little Southlanders (contributors to the Children’s Page of the Southland Times) of the Clifden district held a concert and dance in aid of hospital funds. Mr T. Cochran was chairman, and at the conclusion of the programme complimented the Little Southlanders on the excellent entertainment they themselves had organized. After supper was served dancing was indulged in, music being supplied by Messrs Bates and Wakefield. Mr O. McCleay played extras. Mr W. Smith was M.C. The excellent sum of £6 15/- was taken at the door. Following was the programme:— Vocal solo, Mr A. Miln; recitation, Ruth Heath; play, “The Tragedy of a Pin” (Sylvia Dixon, Ellen O’Brien, Zoe Bates and May McLean); recitation, BettyRowley; recitation, Peter Heath; vocal solo, Mr T. Bates; playette, “The Artist” (Zoe Bates, Ellen O’Brien and Ruth Heath); song, Mr C. Woods; recitation, Ellen O’Brien; song, Mr Wilson Pyne; chorus, “Little Southlanders”; sketch, Messrs Pyne, Jenkins and Baldwin. Personal. Mr and Mrs Iggo spent the school vacation as the guests of Mr and Mrs Mortimer, Riversdale. Mr Baker has returned from a holiday spent in Dunedin. Mr S. Sanford and his son were visitors to Dunedin for the races.
