SPAR BUSH NOTES
BASKETBALL. (From Our Correspondent.) On Wednesday the local basketball team travelled to Limehills where they defeated the home team by 14 goals to 10. » The Riverton second grade badminton team visited Spar Bush on Thursday where they defeated the second team by 5 sets to 3. Play was to a time limit, and the results with Riverton names first, are as follows:— Combined Doubles.—Mrs Lyng and Williams v. Miss Cartwright and McCullough 21—6; Miss Galloway and Matheson v. Miss McCrostie and McCrostie 10—16; Miss McKinnon and Tweedie v. Miss F. McCrostie and Hunter 16—14; Mrs Keeler and McFadgen v. Miss Saunders and Smith 14—13. Women’s Doubles.—Mrs Lyng and Miss McKinnon v. Miss Cartwright and Miss McCrostie 7—27; Miss Galloway and Mrs Keeler v. Miss F. McCrostie and Miss Saunders 5—22. Men’s Doubles.—Williams and Tweedie v. McCullough and McCrostie 36—11; Matheson and McFadgen v. Hunter and Smith 16—14. After the match finished an informal tournament was held, the winners, Williams and Hunter defeating Miss Borland and Matheson in a play-off. On Friday afternoon, the school children were pleased to receive an informal visit from Miss Saker, of the Calcutta Girls’ College. Miss Saker’s talk to the children on the costume, animals and customs of India, was much appreciated.
