In a match against Glamorgan, South Africa in its first innings has made 327 for the loss of three wickets. Wade played a real captain’s innings, reaching his century in three hours and thirty-five minutes, which is half an hour longer than was taken by Rowan, who batted attractively throughout. Wyatt gave him the following opinion on bodyline bowling:—“lt is not cricket; it is too one-sided. I wonder vzhat exponents of bodyline would think if a batsman injured by a bowler walked up the crease and struck the bowler on the head with his bat. The best deterrent of this class of bowling is to stop the ball with your mouth and have your jaw broken in four places as I had.”
