Lady Warwick As Extra
The Countess of Warwick, formerly .ose Bingham, was one of 200 players taking part in a mob scene in a Hollywood studio, writes a correspondent. Lady Warwick was staying in Hollywood as a guest of Adrienne Ames, the star.
She worked throughout the day on the lot without any of the other performers becoming aware of her identity.
At the end of the day she joined the queue at the pay office and received the equivalent of 30/-. She gave the money to another extra player as soon as she got outside the studio.
The generosity of Miss Ginger Rogers is going to lead her into trouble soon. The other day she received a note from a girl fan in the East saying that said fan was planning to hitch-hike across the continent, and if she made Hc’lywood, would Ginger treat her to a lunch at the RKO studio? Ginger replied that she would be glad to. But it didn’t occur to the dancing redhead that her fan might exhibit the reply. Now half the girl’s neighbourhood have formed a hitchhiking party and are heading for sunny California in the hope of getting a lunch at Ginger’s expense on arrival! What bothers Miss Rogers is the fact that she has absolutely no way of stopping the oncoming horde.
