WOMEN’S DIVISION
FAIRFAX BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Fairfax branch of the W.D.F.U. was held on Tuesday, June 4, Mrs Mitchell presiding over a large attendance. The competition, “Four Pikelets,” resulted: Mrs A. J. Officer 1, Mrs W. S. Brown 2, Mrs S. Mclntosh 3. A demonstration on the making of cane trays was given by Mrs Rance (Waimatuku), to whom a vote of thanks was passed on the motion of Mrs Officer. FORTROSE BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Fortrose branch of the W.D.F.U. was held in the social hall, Mrs T. Golden presiding over a good attendance. Two new members were welcomed. A letter from the Provincial Executive on the question of forming a dressmaking class was discussed, but as there were not sufficient entries nothing could be done in the matter at the time. It was hoped to form a class in the near future. The Roll Call was “A Cure for the Blues,” the cures being marvellous and showing great variety. _ Miss Clarke gave an instructive demonstration on “tatting” for which a hearty vote of thanks was accorded her.
