TIMBER FOR EXPORT

MARKING REQUIREMENTS.

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, June 6.

An order under the Merchandise Marks Act, which becomes operative on June 29, may have an important and perhaps beneficial effect on Dominion timber exporters. The order provides that it shall be unlawful to import into Britain or offer for sale timbers unless marked giving an indication of origin at intervals of not more than 9in, including planed tongue and grooved or planed and otherwise manufactured hardwood, flooring blocks, or strips of hardwood and parquet flooring in sections or joined together. The sale of goods imported prior to June 29 is not affected till January 1, 1936.
