COUSIN BETTY’S LETTER

My dears, Really and truly these plays are playing havoc with my letters to you. Isn’t it peculiar how, the moment letters begin to be informative, they lose their chattiness? Only twelve more days until Thursday and Friday, June 20 and 21, the two biggest days of our year! We are going to prove to everyone that it was worth while giving up so much of our time to rehearsals, aren’t we? Meanwhile, the tickets are ready and may be obtained by application at the office. I hope you are inducing all your friends and relations to come. REHEARSALS: This afternoon the girls will rehearse in the Operatic Rooms at' 2 o’clock. Be punctual, please. There is a special reason for this request and you’ll find out why this afternoon. The senior boys will rehearse on Monday afternoon, after school, and the junior boys on Tuesday afternoon. Remember to bring gym shoes or slippers, junior boys. Next Saturday morning is going to be a very busy one, for, through the courtesy of the management of the Civic Pictures, we are going to have a rehearsal in the Civic Theatre. This is most important. The junior boys must be at the Civic Theatre at 8.30. (We have to be away from the theatre at 11 o’clock, so this is the reason for the early start.) At 9 o’clock, and not a minute later, the senior boys will begin Girls: 9.30. Cousins in “The Photo”: 10 o’clock. We should be very grateful to Mr Monk for allowing us to use the theatre for this rehearsal, because the shifting of the equipment from the stage must entail a great deal of extra work and inconvenience. Your own

P.S.: Will you wait patiently for your prize money and enrolment cards for another twelve days, my dears? I promise to be most methodical when the plays are over.
