QUETTA EARTHQUAKE

50,000 BELIEVED DEAD.

RELIEF FUNDS OPENED.

It is officially estimated that the earthquake casualties in Kalat State totalled 30,000, of which 24,000 are dead, bringing the death roll in Quetta and Kalat to 50,000. Earthquake relief funds have been opened throughout India, The Viceroy’s fund totals £11,246.

SEARCH SUSPENDED

The labour corps search for possible survivors of the earthquake and the recovery of property had to be suspended owing to the appalling stench from thousands of decomposing bodies. Quetta is now completely evacuated and is surrounded by a cordon of troops. (British military and women and children survivors are leaving Karachi by steamer for England.
