PALESTINE’S PROGRESS
BRITISH ADMINISTRATION. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Melbourne, June 4. Rabbi E. M. Levy, who arrived by the Otranto to become Chief Minister of the Great Synagogue, Sydney, in succession to the late Rabbi Francis Cohen, declared that all pessimistic estimates of the economic possibilities of Palestine had been swept aside by the unparalleled progress the country had made, thanks to the British administration. He added that the forward movement was not due to ordinary recolonization methods or to the return of Jews from Germany, whose numbers were inconsequential, but to the cen-tury-old longing that Palestine should be the spiritual centre of Jewry. Palestine, however, had proved a boon to the victims of oppression.
