LOSING SUPPORT
DANZIG NAZI REGIME RESULT OF DEVALUED CURRENCY ‘ THE GULDEN SLUMPS (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.15 p.-.-i.) London, June 4. The Danzig correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that a disquieting situation has developed as a result oi the devaluation of the Danzig gulden on May 26. The banks are refusing to exchange it for other currencies, and as a result it has fallen to one-fifth of its nominal value and there is a general rush to buy Polish currency. The Nazi regime in Danzig, elected on April 7, is fast losing support. Its opponents are demanding a plebiscite to clean up the financial .situation. The reason for th. anti-Nazi agitation is persistent rumours that the Nazis took advantage of private information to buy foreign currency and commodities in anticipation of a slump in the gulden. There has been a rush on provision and clothing shops during the week-end by would-be hoarders, and prices are rushing up.
