GAS ATTACKS
PRECAUTIONS IN AUSTRALIA. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.20 p.m.) Sydney, June 4. The Canberra correspondent of the Sun says that the Minister of Defence, Mr T. A. Parkhill, is initiating measures for the protection of the civilian population of Australian capitals against a gas attack by enemy raiders in the event of war. Mr Parkhill announced that a conference was being arranged between representatives of the Commonwealth and the States on the subject of a practicable scheme which could be employed in such an emergency.
