A sad fatality marred the hockey tourney to-day. A player named Philip McKeown, aged 24, a single man, of Levin, died after removal to hospital. McKeown played in a game this morning and no untoward incident was noticed, but after walking off he complained of pain in the head. The ambulance officer could find no mark of any collision or hit, but on a doctor being consulted McKeown was ordered to hospital at once. He died in a couple of hours.
[A Palmerston North message states that he collided with another player, suffering concussion.]
