The Tasmania star, Merle Oberon, makes a successful appearance opposite Maurice Chevalier in her first American film, “The Man From Folies Bergere,” which is now enjoying a good run in England. It Was hailed with delight in America.
Miss Oberon plays the part of the wife of a famous financier. Mr Chevalier takes the role of the financier and also that of the favourite star of the Folies Bergere. The comedy of the film arises out of the fact that the star of the Folies Bergere gives a perfect imitation of the financier, and has to do so at a reception at which the Prime Ministei - of France is the guest of honour. The film is a deliciously witty entertainment with a wealth Of piquant situations.
