SETTLEMENT REACHED.

The Western Australian gold-mining companies have accepted the Ministry’s proposals for a settlement of the dispute which has caused the mines to be idle for six weeks. Work will be resumed immediately. Within six weeks the miners will decide by ballot whether they favour a fortnight with 40 hours in one week and 48 hours in the next, or a 44-hour week.
