A wireless message says that, struck by numerous squalls since she left Little America, the Jacob Ruppert emerged from the tempestuous sixties to-day. At noon her position was 59.43 degrees south and 173.45 east, about 890 miles from Dunedin. The Bear of Oakland is about 109 miles astern. According to a radio communication early to-day the wind reached a velocity of 60 miles an hour, and once it was necessary to change the course to provide a lee for the two aeroplanes which were cocked on the after hatch.
