In a fit of insane revenge for alleged injustice received from the Unemployment Relief Bureau, Henry Arden, aged 24, a University graduate and a cripple from paralysis, and his mother Ruth, aged 54, shot and killed a relief worker and seriously injured three others. The son then shot and killed his mother and committed suicide. The Ardens had been receiving aid, but recently were removed from the lists.
