ITALIAN CITIZEN-SOLDIERS.

Laws making Italians citizen-soldiers which have now been issued relate firstly, to the establishment of an inspectorate to prepare pre-military and post-military training; secondly, regulations for pre-military instruction; thirdly, regulations for post-military instruction; fourthly, military cultural courses at secondary higher schools under which the scholars are taught how modern armies prepare for war and Italy’s characteristics _ from the military viewpoint; the chief facts in Italy’s victorious war of 1915-1918, also shooting and map-reading. Students not promoted will not be allowed degrees until they have passed the military courses of instruction. Boys under eight are taught chiefly gymnastics and drilling with dummy rifles, but military training is compulsory in all cases.
