MOKOTUA NOTES

ROAD RACE. (From Our Correspondent.) The final of a series of road races organized by local cycling enthusiasts was held at Oteramika on Wednesday evening. The course was the same as the previous week starting and finishing at the Oteramika Hall. There was a strong north-west • wind blowing which at times reached gale force and, together with the atrocious condition ot the Invercargill-Seaward Downs road, made conditions very difficult for the riders. The race resulted: J. Enright 1 (time, 47min 30sec); J. Reynolds I time, 48min); M. Clay 3 (tune 4amin 25sec) M. Clay recorded fastest time, andl also the cup for most points gained during the series with 16 points, J. Reynolds being runner-up with 11 concludes the road racing season in this district, but it is understood a track is to be prepared on the property of Mr James Milne and track will thenceforth be the order on Wednesday evenings. The usual short dance m the Oteramika public hall followed the race and was fairly well attended, Mrs O’Brien and Mr J. Reynolds supplying the music.
