AUSTRALIAN TOURNAMENT. NEW ZEALANDERS PROMINENT. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Melbourne, January 24. The Australian croquet tournament was continued to-day. The results were:— Singles.—Mrs Caldow (New Zealand) defeated Mrs Terry; Miss Morrison defeated Captain Hartnell (New Zealand); Ward Petley (England) defeated Mrs Corbet (New Zealand); J. C. Windsor defeated Stratton (New Zealand). Doubles.—Misses Morrison and Burne defeated Mrs Caldow and Captain Hartnell (New Zealand); Mesdames Dowling and Craig- defeated Mrs Corbet and Stratton (New Zealand). NEW ZEALANDERS’ TOUR. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 12.10 p.m.) Melbourne, Jan. 24. The croquet championships were continued to-day. The New Zealanders’ matches resulted: C. J. Miller (Victorian champion) defeated Stratton; Mrs Terry and J. C. Windsor (Victoria) defeated Mrs Caldow and F. Hartnell (New Zealand); Du Pre (English champion) defeated Mrs Corbett (New Zealand). The New Zealand champion Hartnell has not yet shown his true skill. Stratton is playing better than on his last visit five years ago. The New Zealand woman champion, Mrs Caldow, remains undefeated in the singles.
