STRICKEN VALVERDA
TOWING ATTEMPTS FAIL. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) Rugby, January 23. The Admiralty announces that the Frobisher and the Guardian are in company with the Valverda and two attempts have been made to take her in tow. Both failed on account of heavy weather and the fact that the steering gear of the Valverda is out of action.
